Who the tools are for
The calculators are designed for freelancers, consultants, independent contractors, small agencies, fractional leaders, and other professional-service businesses. They are most useful when the user knows—or is willing to estimate—personal income goals, operating costs, realistic billable capacity, project scope, and direct costs.
Editorial principles
Deterministic calculations
Numerical results come from documented formulas, not free-form language-model output. Language models may assist with drafting explanatory content during site development, but they do not decide calculator results.
Assumptions are not disguised as facts
Example values are labeled and editable. Public data is cited with a source and date. Commercial provider rates are treated as changeable and must be verified.
Privacy before growth
As shipped, calculator inputs remain on the user's device. The site does not require an account, sell leads, or transmit pricing inputs to a server.
Corrections are welcome
To report a formula issue, outdated source, accessibility problem, or unclear explanation, contact info@contractrate.net. Include the calculator, inputs used, expected result, and a reliable source when applicable.
What the site does not do
It does not provide tax, legal, accounting, investment, employment, or financial advice. It does not guarantee that a client will accept a rate, that an engagement will be profitable, or that the assumptions match a user's jurisdiction and business.
